Understand What Motivation Is
Motivation is not a state and it is not something that you find. You create motivation. It may seem strange but think about it. When you sit down to watch a movie, you don’t overthink it. You don’t need to know that you are motivated to watch that movie. If you don’t like it, you put on another one or go do something else.
It’s not like there’s a specific type of motivation that you need for weight loss.
Motivation is made up of a bunch of activities, mindset tricks, keeping busy with hobbies, work, passions. You don’t need overall motivation just motivation in the moment and that’s something you create or perceive.
Tap Into Your Life Experience
What motivates you to do other things?
For instance, I am not always motivated to clean the apartment. But if someone comes to visit, you would never have imagined that I cleaned the whole thing in minutes. I am not always motivated to write but I put on a deep focus song I like, tidy up the desk and start writing. I don’t need to think about all the benefits that come after I write. I am present in the moment.
- Why do you wake up in the morning?
- What drives you out of bed?
- What motivates you to do the work that you do?
- What motivates you to watch a movie?
- What motivates you to play a game?
- What motivates you to talk to a friend?
Use the answers and the tricks that you already have. Apply them to your weight loss program.
If you know all the information you need to lose weight, create a plan. Share the plan with others and get some accountability partners. But make sure you are all on the same page. You only need one person who is doing the same thing you are. Describe the process, make it appealing to them and gain clarity for yourself. When you teach something to someone you learn it better or you remember the concepts by properly compartmentalizing.
Clarity also comes in the form of desires.
When you know what you really want from this eartly experience, it will be infintely easier to create a path that you won’t have to soon erase.
